NES used fieldstone, erosion eels, rock bags, straw bales and several types of erosion matting to lessen erosion across the transmission line right-of-way. Several drainage swales flow through the right-of-way; during extreme storm events these drainage swales repeatedly eroded large sections of the right-of-way. A large rock dam was constructed using fieldstone and erosion mats. This dam was surrounded by erosion eels and more erosion mats. Other drainage swales were matted and reinforced with erosion eels, and the entire area was seeded with a native grass mix.
